Our Story

The Neighborhood Food Project is a grassroots movement that makes it easy for communities to consistently support their local food pantries. What began as a simple idea—neighbors collecting non-perishable food from one another every two months—has grown into a proven model used in towns and cities across the country. By empowering local organizers and volunteers, we help build sustainable, neighborhood-based food donation networks that keep pantry shelves stocked year-round. Our national organization provides the tools, resources, and guidance needed to launch and grow local projects, making it simple for anyone to get involved and make a difference right where they live
