The Port Townsend Food Project is dedicated to providing consistent, nutritious, and varied food donations to the Port Townsend Food Bank. Our mission is to make it easy for neighbors to help neighbors and to strengthen our community through involvement and awareness. The recipe is simple…
We give you a GREEN bag. Every time you go shopping, add one or two extra nonperishable items to your cart, and drop them in the green bag when you get home.
Every two months, your neighborhood coordinator will schedule the pickup, grab your bag of food, drop off an empty bag, and deliver ALL the green bags to the Port Townsend Food Bank.

Our Story
The Port Townsend Food Project was launched as a response to the delay of SNAP funding in 2025. Trish Cardosa, who initiated the project, had recently moved to Port Townsend from Ashland, OR, where there is a thriving Food Project. Her inaugural group was the Port Townsend Cold Plungers, and they were MORE than happy to participate and support. This led to individual plungers signing up to be coordinators for their neighborhoods or groups! We now have six coordinators and over 70 contributors, and we are looking forward to signing up more!
Partner Pantry
Our Food Project has successfully partnered with the Jefferson County Food Bank Association in Port Townsend. They are very grateful for our support, and together we look forward to the project growing and becoming a sustaining avenue of donations from and for our community. Most Needed Items
Canned beans or meat, shelf-stable tofu, jerky or protein snack sticks, canned chili and soup, cereal boxes, coffee, tea, powdered milk, kids’ juice boxes, applesauce in pouches, feminine hygiene products.
Get Involved
Most of us want to help, but don’t have the extra time in our days. This is how the Food Project can help you. We can be your conduit to the Food Bank and your neighbors. All you need to do is grab one extra food item each time you go shopping.
If you want to participate as either a coordinator or a contributor, please contact us below.
